This week in our math learining we will be learning how to use percents and how to change them in to fractions and decimals.
Ex.1 : What percent of 20 is 30?
ok now that we know the problem , lets break it down into smaller phrases.
what number /percent = n (or any other variable)
of=multiply
is = equal
ok let's put it together now:
1) n*20=30 or 20n=30
2) 20n/20=30/20
3) n=1.5 or 150% (to make it 150 percent move the decimals 2 spaces forward when changing it to a percent
the opposite way when turning into a decimal.)
CHANGING PERCENTS TO DECIMALS:
changing percents to decimals are easy but to fractions,... you might need a calculator . But we'll learn about it another
time
to change a percent to a decimal you need to but the decimal back 2 slots or spaces.
Ex. 1 56% turns in to 0.56
Ex. 2 45.5 turns in to 0.455
Ex. 3 500 turns in to 5
